Is FOX News Going Down?

It appears that what used to be the most significant influencer of the conservative side of the political universe — FOX News, decided to experiment with its viewer’s political feelings, and it didn’t turn out well for the network. As a result, their viewership starts to shrink.

It wasn’t a secret that FOX News Channel, once known for its fair and balanced news reporting, is slowly leaning to the left. But what has happened to their reporting of this year’s election is mind-boggling.

Fox surprised everybody by being the first to call Joe Biden the winner of the state of Arizona. The network was the only news organization to declare a winner in Arizona at the time. Even CNN decided to wait.
Trump’s senior campaign advisor, Jason Miller, reacted to it on Twitter:

There are still 1M+ Election Day votes out there waiting to be counted – we pushed our people to vote on Election Day, but now Fox News is trying to invalidate their votes!

Needless to say, Trump Campaign and Trump supporters weren’t happy with the way FOX handled the election night.

Trace, we’ve called that!

Some people don’t know who calls the elections in our country.

FOX News seems to have moved from reporting the news to creating them. If one refuses to accept their version of reality, they react as if a mental asylum escapee is trying to explain the theory of relativity to them.

The reaction of FOX’s Sandra Smith to a guest — Cleta Mitchel — saying that networks don’t call elections is priceless.

They believe that when THEY call the election, the game is over. We all should accept the ‘winner’ which they, in their wisdom, have chosen for us, or we’ll be dismissed as a bunch of kooks not worthy of their attention.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!

On Monday, Nov 09, 2020, FOX News started to air the White House press conference and then…,

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!

Said Neil Cavuto, when cutting away from a press conference during which White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany accused Democrats of “welcoming” fraud and illegal voting, and then he added:

She’s charging the other side as welcoming fraud and welcoming illegal voting. Unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continue to show you this.

Well. If Mr. Cavuto bothered to listen to the entire press conference, he would notice that Ms. McEnany not only listed all the problems discovered with this year’s election process but also talked about evidence or, as Mr. Cavuto would say, “details to back that up.”

Watch Fox’s version of Press Briefing by Kayleigh McEnany, which ended with Neil Cavuto spraying holy water all over the studio set.

Daytime vs. night-time TV?

Not every personality on FOX News deserve criticism. The problem lies mainly with the management and the few faces you can see during daytime hours. The night line up is still pretty good with Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity at the top.

It appears that FOX News has two teams in the house. One is pro-Trump, and the other is not, and they start taking shots at each other.

Tucker Carlson even decided to express his discontent at one of his daytime colleagues (no names were mentioned, but we know who was the target) for unceremonial cutting away from coverage he didn’t like, namely Press Briefing by Kayleigh McEnany.

In a democracy, you can’t ignore honest questions from citizens. You’re not allowed. You can’t dismiss them out of hand as crazy or immoral for asking. You can’t just cut away from the coverage you don’t like.

What’s next for FOX?

It’s not the first time FOX News has angered its viewer base, but it’s the first time there are alternatives to choose from. Newsmax and One America News Network are newcomers but can already gather a bit of an audience, and their viewership is getting bigger and bigger very fast.

Just a few months ago, Newsmax TV was recording about 25,000 viewers a day. During the election week, that jumped up to over 180,000 viewers. And now, after the election, and Fox’s mishandling of election coverage, Newsmax is pulling close to 450,000 viewers a day, and shows like “Spicer & Co” and “Greg Kelly Reports” reach 700-800 thousand viewers.

So, is FOX News going away? No, they are not. But, it is clear that they are facing competition, and the competition is getting stronger.
