Two Trillion Dollars Coronavirus Relief Package Passed In The Senate 96-0

The Senate overwhelmingly passed a massive stimulus package last night meant to lessen the economic blow of the coronavirus pandemic for American workers and businesses.

The amendment, proposed by Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., intended to fix the “Drafting Error” in the bill, did not reach the 60 vote threshold. It failed 48-48, mainly along party lines.

On Friday, Mar 27, 2020, President Trump signed H.R. 748, the CARES Act.

  • $1,200 in direct cash payments for most Americans.
  • Expanded unemployment benefits (including those to freelancers and independent contractors.)

Senator Lindsey Graham — Coronavirus Relief Package Contains “Drafting Error”

The “drafting error” involves a fixed $600-per-week payment on the top of unemployment benefits — which are calculated using a worker’s current salary — that those who apply will receive.

In a statement, Sens. Tim Scott, R-S.C., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Ben Sasse, R-Neb., and Rick Scott, R-Fla stated. In essence, the bill could provide a “strong incentive for employees to be laid off instead of going to work” because people could make more by being unemployed than employed.

Senators explain their objections.

So, I’m making $16/h in South Carolina, working 40 hours a week makes 600 dollars. If you’re unemployed, you can get up to three hundred twenty-six dollars. You get half your income so that six hundred dollar wage now becomes three hundred in unemployment.

What the federal government does is it comes in and puts six hundred in it on top of that three hundred, so now instead of making six hundred when you were working, you’re now making nine hundred not working.

How long do you stay in unemployment, if you’re making fifty percent more than you were working? The answer 16 weeks.

Democrats Holding Up The Coronavirus Relief Package

Today (3/23/20), Senate Majority Leader — Mitch McConnell shredded Democrat’s opposition to the Coronavirus relief package(S.3548 – CARES Act).

Democrats try to include unrelated amendments in the bill that have nothing whats so ever to do with the crisis our nation is facing right now.

Kipping America hostage?

Negotiations ware moving well, and then something has happened. Democrat leadership started coming up with new demands. It looks like whatever they couldn’t pass thru congress over the last few years, they want to force on us using the CARES Act. Hopefully, Republicans will not cave in.

These are just some of the unrelated demands Senate Democrats have used to slow relief for workers and families: Tax credits for solar and wind energy. Special treatment for Big Labor. Airlines’ emissions standards This is a crisis. Why is only one side acting like it?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

I wonder if people who are losing their jobs as the economy contracts in the face of the coronavirus outbreak and depend on the passing of this bill to receive their next paycheck or at least partial financial support worry about:

  • Solar and wind energy?
  • The needs of big Labor?

  • New emissions standards for airlines?

I don’t think so.

People are trying to figure out how to deal with much more trivial problems, like paying their upcoming bills.

Many Americans are hurting, and they need help. The CARES Act would provide that help. Unfortunately, Democrats decided to use the coronavirus outbreak as a vehicle for their agenda.

This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.

Majority Whip James Clyburn

If you want to know what vision James Clyburn is talking about, you’ll have to read through over 1400 pages of the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act — Nancy Pelosi’s coronavirus stimulus bill.

Couple of examples of demands in Pelosi’s coronavirus stimulus bill that Sen Cotton found.:

Have fun watching Democrats playing games. After all, many Americans have nothing else to do during the coronavirus lockdown.

President Trump Goes After Never Trumper Republicans

Finally, The Commander In Chief calls the opposition inside the Republican party for what it is — human scum.

No more Mr nice guy. Donald Trump is reaching into deeper layers of his vocabulary basket, and in my opinion, he’s doing the right thing. There’s no reason why the President should be respectful to people who, in some cases, greatly benefited from his support when they run for office, but after being elected, work very hard to have him destroyed.

The Republican opposition to Donald Trump has existed from the moment he made his run for office, official. Many lawmakers oppose Trump and would reach the highest levels of political excitement seeing his presidency failed.

The Never Trumpers don’t care how many regular citizens will get hurt if the President’s policies, due to opposition’s destructive actions, will fail. No matter how many people will lose their jobs, their pensions, their houses, as long as Donald Trump gets kicked out of the White House, his haters are going to be filled with joy.

The last thought.

In a nutshell.

They — the Republican establishment — hiding behind Democrats, deep state and mainstream media, work furiously hard to destroy President Of The United States just because he is doing a much better job then they were ever able or willing to do. Many politicians rush to oppose him, even when he wants to do what they were trying to do just a short while ago without success.

So, Washington hates Trump because Trump makes Washington look bad. I can understand this sentiment. On the other hand, it’s not his fault that many of those distinguished ladies and gentlemen on Capitol are a bunch of idiots, and him refusing to bring himself down to their level should not be held against him.
