Boris Johnson Brexit

Brexit — The Transition Period

Friday, January 31st, is a Brexit Day. At 11:01 P.M. GMT, the UK — under the leadership of prime minister Boris Johnson — formally leaves the European Union and immediately enters an 11-month transition period.

Immediate changes.

Not so good.

On Wednesday (01/29/20), the European Parliament voted in Brussels to ratify the withdrawal agreement that governs Britain’s departure from the European Union. During the transition, the United Kingdom will continue to obey European Union rules and pay money to the EU coffers but:

  • Because the UK will leave all of the EU’s political institutions and agencies, the Britons will lose any influence over how things are run in the EU. At the same time, the European Court of Justice will continue to have the final say over legal disputes in the UK.
  • British will also no longer attend regular EU meetings, and if Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to attend any EU Council summits, he will have to be specially invited.
  • Germany won’t extradite its citizens to the UK (Germany’s constitution does not allow its citizens to be extradited unless it’s to another EU country). Still, The European Arrest Warrant will continue to apply during the transition period. (That means Germany will be able to extradite non-German citizens from UK.)

Immediate change.

Pretty good.

On a better note, the UK will be allowed to negotiate trade agreements with countries like the US and Australia, which as an EU member it could not do. (Brexit supporters believe that having the freedom to set its trade policy will boost the UK’s economy.) Still, trade between the UK and EU will continue without any extra charges or checks being introduced.

No Immediate changes.

Leave it alone. No complaints.

If it comes to things like travel, the way medical care is handled, and rules governing living and working in EU countries, no changes are anticipated during the transition period.

  • Driving licenses will be honored.
  • European Health Insurance Card will continue to be valid.
  • UK nationals living in the EU will continue to receive their state pension.

So, the life of ordinary British citizens living in the EU is not going to face any drastic change. At least till December 31st.

The last thought.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hail the “dawn of a new era” on Friday, as the UK will leave the European Union.

The most important thing to say tonight is that this is not an end but a beginning. This is the moment when the dawn breaks, and the curtain goes up on a new act. It is a moment of real national renewal and change.

Boris Johnson

Over the next 11 months, the world will closely monitor Europe’s second-largest economy, breaking ties with the Union. If the process runs relatively painless and will create a positive impact on the British economy, no one should be surprised when some other EU member will realize that maybe breaking out of the pack is not such a bad idea.

Good luck to all Britons. I wish you the best.

Pres. Trump Impeached

Today, on December 18, 2019, Democrats in Congress voted Donald Trump to his second term as the president of the United States.

Thank You!

It doesn’t really feel like we’re being impeached. The country is doing better than ever before. We did nothing wrong. And we have tremendous support in the Republican party like we have never had before. Nobody has ever had this kind of support.

Donald Trump

The vote.

Abuse of power:
the count was 230-197 to impeach.

Obstruction of Congress:
the count was 229-198 to impeach.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey
Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota
voted with Republicans against both articles of impeachment
Rep. Jared Golden of Maine
voted yes on abuse of power and no on obstruction of Congress.
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard voted present.

No Republicans voted against Trump.

By Democrats’ standards, opposition to impeachment was heavily bipartisan.

The last thought on impeachment.

No last thought…
No last thought for a simple reason.
No one reasonable gives damn about this fiasco.

How each member of the House voted on impeachment

President Trump’s Impeachment Takedown Letter To Speaker Pelosi

President Donald Trump doesn’t hold back when denouncing the Democrat-led impeachment process in a strongly worded letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

(Tuesday, December 17, 2019)

I write to express my strongest and most powerful protest against the partisan impeachment crusade being pursued by Democrats in the House of Representatives. The impeachment represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by Democrat Lawmakers, unequaled in nearly two and a half centuries of American legislative history.

Donald J. Trump
President of the United States of America

The full letter from President Trump to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Just a few highlights pulled from the President’s letter.

  • You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment.
  • [Y]ou are violating your oat of office, you are breaking your allegiance to the Constitution, and you are declaring open war on American Democracy.
  • “Abuse of Power,” is a completely disingenuous, meritless, and baseless invention of your imagination.
  • You have developed a full-fledged case of what many in the media call Trump Derangement Syndrome.
  • This is nothing more than illegal, partisan attempted coup[.]

The last thought.

Donald Trump indicates that he has no expectations that Pelosi would be influenced by his letter. So why to bother and write one? There’s a simple explanation. The letter isn’t intended for Nancy Pelosi or the Democrats in Congress. President Trump’s letter is directed to the American people.

Boris Johnson To Win Biggest Tory Landslide Since Margaret Thatcher

Exit polls look great for Boris Johnson.

Getting closer to Brexit.

Conservatives look to have picked up 50 seats and Labor has lost 71 seats. Crushing defeat for labor party and significant blow to the European Union.

If exit polls are accurate, it will give the Tories a majority of 86. Tory activists had anticipated, in their most optimistic predictions, for a majority of about 30. I’m sure they love that kind of surprise.

I’m optimistic.

So. People have spoken again. It looks like pushing for this early election—the next one was not due until 2022—is going to pay off and will give Johnson the majority he needs, in his words, to “get Brexit done.” Hopefully, exit polls are reflecting reality, and Mr. prime minister will be able to keep his promise of Great Britain leaving the EU.

Congratulations to Boris Johnson and Conservative Party.

Thank you to everyone across our great country who voted, who volunteered, who stood as candidates. We live in the greatest democracy in the world.

No Safe Spaces — You have the right to remain silent

More and more often, I ask myself a question: Do I still have a right to express my opinions freely, or do I have to contact some licensed practitioner of political correctness, to have them approved first?

Freedom of speech?

The First Amendment — the most important amendment to the US Constitution — is under attack in America today. An increasing number of Americans believe that you have the right to speak your mind only if your view of the world is the same as theirs. And if that’s not the case — too bad — you’re not allowed to speak (at least at the environment they control, aka college campuses).

The movie

A new documentary created by comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla, along with radio talk show host Dennis Prager — “No Safe Spaces” — just hit the theaters. Carolla and Prager, with help from a few other smart people, deal with the growing problem of freedom of speech suppression coming from people who (a long time ago) use to be in the avant-garde of its defense — intellectuals or, let’s call them pseudointellectuals. (Real intellectuals don’t silence people, they debate them.)

We’re creating this environment where liberals and leftists and progressives on campuses think that they need to get government authority or university authority to protect their ears from stuff they don’t like, or stuff that’s actually offensive, or stuff that is racist or is sexist or is horrible. And I just think that’s a very dangerous view.

Safe space is a waste of space.

Most (pseudo) intellectuals want to silence proponents of views that don’t follow the official line set by the thought police. Some of them (I assume, those still innocent and delicate) advocate for “safe spaces” — areas where they can isolate themselves from the reality and the risk of meeting someone who doesn’t share their politically correct take on life. It would be much simpler and chipper to putt blindfolds on, and pack a couple of pounds of cotton in each ear. There’s no need to waste any real estate, so a bunch of “snowflakes” can feel safe.

The term safe space refers to places created for individuals who feel marginalized to come together to communicate regarding their experiences with marginalization, most commonly located on university campuses in the western world, but also at workplaces, as in the case of Nokia.

What happened? It used to be about exchanging ideas and alternative points of view but today…

Today, instead of presenting and defending their opinions, more and more people (especially at institutions of higher education) want to force their beliefs on others. No one cares about alternative points of view. It’s either their way or a highway.

Why are they afraid of debate?

There’s nothing wrong with having different opinions. The problems start when people, instead of presenting and then explaining/defending their point of view, do a presentation and replace explaining with attacks on anyone who dares to challenge that point of view. It’s not just that they don’t want to listen to any counterarguments; more importantly, they don’t want anyone else to hear them.

So, why is it?
I believe that the main reason why a person would not want to allow any alternative opinions to float around is fear that their views will not hold up when compared to those of others.
They know they’re wrong.

Arnold And His New Eco-Friendly Toy — Pinzgauer 6×6 718 K — Are Saving The Planet

After meeting with Greta Thunberg, Arnold Schwarzenegger has made eco-friendly upgrades to his $100,000 Pinzgauer. The 6X6 military vehicle has been fixed up to include a low-displacement engine from S-Tec, which replaced the diesel guzzling previous one.

S-TEC — the company hired to modify the vehicle — increased the rated power to 180HP / 132KW (from standard 112 HP / 82KW) but also “dramatically reduced the fuel consumption and the environmental impact” compared to the original vehicle. (They don’t supply any numbers if it comes to a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption and the environmental impact.)

Arnold has a new hero.

Greta Thunberg — the Joan of Arc of the environmentalism.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said:

It was fantastic to see my friend and one of my heroes Greta Thunberg last week and go on a bike ride around Santa Monica together, and I was so pumped to introduce her to my daughter Christina. Keep inspiring, Greta!

And then he jumped into his upgraded 6X6 Pinzgauer and drove off into the sunset.

The dirty secret.

Does Greta know what Arnie drives?

I wonder if Mr. Schwarzenegger invited Greta to his garage. The man likes to drive the worst gas-guzzling vehicles in the world — just a few of the examples for you.

  • Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (13 city/19 highway)
  • Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300 SE (12 MPG Diesel)
  • Porsche 911 Turbo (17 city / 24 highway)
  • Hummer H1 (multiple — ≈10 mpg)
  • Ex-Military Dodge M37 (6 mpg)
  • Bentley Continental GTC (15-18 mpg)
  • Bugatti Veyron (10 mpg)
  • M47 Patton Tank (2-2.5 mpg). He uses it once in a while to support his charity by crushing cars he doesn’t like.

And what the hell is this?

Arnold Schwarzenegger is leaving Cafe Roma in Beverly Hills, California, on May 6, 2016. The vehicle he was driving was so large that it was unable to park in a regular parking spot.

So, the question is:

Is Arnold going (after the) green?

I don’t think the Terminator is going to stop driving “real” cars any time soon, but it looks like he is getting more and more interested in “green technologies.” He decided to invest some of his time and possibly money into an Austrian start-up Kreisel Electric GmbH — battery development company based in the town of Rainbach im Mühlkreis — the company which converted two of his gas-guzzlers into electric vehicles.

  • Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen (link).
483 horsepower (360 kilowatts), and the 80-kilowatt-hour battery provides nearly 186 miles (300 kilometers) of driving range.
  • Hummer H1 (link)
483 horsepower (360 kilowatts), and the 100-kilowatt-hour battery provides nearly 186 miles (300 kilometers) of driving range.

It took a lot of green to make those two vehicles green. Including donor cars, the cost reached close to a million dollars each. These are prototypes, and they don’t come cheap.

Has Arnold become a full-fledged environmentalist? No, he did not. Schwarzenegger is a businessman, and whatever he does, he does it because he sees a business opportunity.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his nephew Patrick Knapp-Schwarzenegger are listed as Angel Investors and According to PR Newswire Los Angeles-based entrepreneur and attorney Patrick Knapp-Schwarzenegger leads a group of partners that owns a stake in Kreisel Electric.

Arnold promotes Kreisel Electric not because he wants to save the planet (maybe just a little) but because he invested in that company.

It is perfectly O.K. to make money.

Just don’t try to sell a BS in the process.

And that’s why I’m a crusader, an environmental crusader around the world to make sure we stop this madness of using fossil fuels and that we switch to renewables or electric or hydrogen cars and new technology but this government doesn’t do anything about it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

We all want to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and eat clean food. Anyone who comes up with new “clean technology” is alright with me. Anyone who supports that new technology by promoting it or financing it with an expectation to profit from it is okay with me.
I don’t like it when people suggest that they do it to save my sorry ass because they worry about mine and my kid’s future. Because I don’t buy it.

Donald Trump changes permanent residents from New York to Florida

Bye, bye, New York!

President Trump has finally got tired of paying ultra-high city, state, and local taxes in New York, and on Friday, officially changed his permanent address from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida.

(Although President Trump announced his decision on Thursday, he filed the “declaration of domicile” papers last month on Oct 04, 2019)

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence.

I cherish New York, and the people of New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse.

I hated having to make this decision, but in the end it will be best for all concerned. As President, I will always be there to help New York and the great people of New York. It will always have a special place in my heart!

President Donald Trump

President Trump is not an exception; he’s just one of many New Yorkers who decided to cut their ties with the Big Apple. An estimated 277 people are moving out of the New York City metro area every day (2018 Census data). Statistics provided by United Van Lines, the large moving truck company, which collects data on the flow of people, reports that the tri-state area in the Northeast — New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut — are amongst the top regions from which people are moving the fastest.

The New York metropolitan area is losing an economically productive population.

And taxpayers are replaced by tax users.

So, existing taxes keep going up. New taxes are being put in place (hello congestion pricing). The fees charged for the use of tunnels and bridges are rasing. The costs of doing business in the NY Metro area is steadily increasing. It looks like people running New York City want to chase taxpayers out when, at the same time, inviting people who more often than not won’t pay any taxes but will use available services and farther drain the city coffers.

If that trend doesn’t change, more and more companies will relocate to areas that are more business-friendly, taking their most valuable employees with them.

As a tax-paying entities leave, taxes will have to be raised to make up for the lost revenue. The higher taxes will force further businesses and people to move out, which in effect will push the tax revenue even lower.

Ultimately, the tax-paying base will be too small to support even the most essential city departments like NYPD, FDNY, and the layoffs will follow. Fewer police officers and firefighters translate into a less safe place to live, meaning that fewer people will want to live in New York, and they will move out. As more tax-paying entities will leave, taxes will have to be raised again…

So, Mr. President, step on it, I’m right behind you!

Mark Levin: ‘National Security Council Was a Rat’s Nest!’

We have found the rat’s nest. It’s in the National Security Council. The whistleblower, according to a number of reports, comes off the National Security Council. An Obama holdover. A Democrat. Somebody who worked with Biden. Somebody who worked with Brennan. An Obama holdover who didn’t like Trump, who met with one of the active figures in the Ukraine effort to undermine the president of the United States in 2016. We have two others, who now were hired by Schiff, Obama holdovers who worked in the Trump National Security Council. Now they work for Schiff. How much do you want to bet that he colluded with? And of course, Schiff doesn’t know anything about it. Do you want to know why the president of the United States has had trouble bringing his own people in the National Security Council? Now you know why — it was a rat’s nest!

Robert “Beto” O’Rourke Wants Your Guns

Sell us your guns, or else!

Democratic “presidential contender,” Robert “Beto” O’Rourke thinks police agencies will partner in his plan to take away legal weapons from gun-owning Americans

Somehow he has figured it all out. Americans are eagerly waiting for his weapons control plan to become a law, and then will meekly hand over their weapons, no questions asked.

In the case of encountering, someone who won’t subscribe to Beto’s interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, he has plan B ready. He’s going to enlist the help of the law enforcement agencies, which, in his opinion, will happily jump in and (using their firepower) help him disarm resistant gun owners.

Yeah, I think just as in any law that is not followed or flagrantly abused, there have to be consequences, or else there is no respect for the law. So you know, in that case, I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and to make sure that it is purchased, bought back so that it cannot be potentially used against somebody else.

Robert “Beto” O’Rourke

(Explaining what is going to happen if someone will tell him to pound the sand.)

In short, if his ambitious plan encounters any resistance, he will grab a phone and call 9 1 1.

Not so fast, Beto.

There’s a minor problem — The Second Amendment.

Luckily for us, over 200 years ago, our Founding Fathers were able to foresee the future and saw some guy named Beto, and a bunch of his friends, trying to disregard the will of the people, and after disarming them, govern as they see fit.

The reason for the addition of the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution was to make sure that citizens have the means to defend themselves against an oppressive government, otherwise known as Guys like Beto.

Fortunately, it looks like all those founders, a long time ago, were a bunch of quite brilliant men, and threw a monkey wrench into Beto’s plans before he even started planning. The name of the wrench — you guess — is, the Second Amendment.

Beto’s wet dream.

There’s another minor problem — Men and women of the law enforcement.

Members of police forces are not thrilled by the idea of being used as the government enforcers. Taking away citizen’s rights by force isn’t exactly a popular concept among the men and women who ware sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

The thought of anyone utilizing my sheriff’s office or any other law enforcement agency in this country as their personal Gestapo to go door to door violating citizen’s rights is disgusting, unrealistic and downright un-American.

Eddy County Sheriff Mark Cage

(When talking to Townhall.)

Mr. O’Rourke believes that whoever came up with a motto seen on police cars: “To Serve And Protect”, had him and his friends in mind. He thinks that the men and women of law enforcement are there to protect politicians and to enforce their ridiculous ideas.

I think that you have to be concerned for the safety of the citizen [too] because, at that point, they don’t know if law enforcement is coming to protect them or disarm them and that creates a very tense situation.

Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams

(When talking to Townhall.)

Because of his support for police, President Donald Trump enjoys a high level of popularity among members of law enforcement agencies. Maybe O’Rourke thinks that his insane idea of elevating our cops above the U.S. Constitution will cause them to switch their support from Trump to him — the one and only — Beto O’Rourke. The problem is, police officers don’t want to be elevated by O’Rourke.

Mr. O’Rourke is delusional in regards to his gun control ideas. The biggest fear of any free society is the government at your door, wanting to take away your rights by force. I do not see the men and women of law enforcement sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution doing this. In an act of desperation, Mr. O’Rourke is shamefully using tragedies our country has experienced and fear for his political gain. The very foundation of law enforcement is public trust. Frankly, no one should trust a man who talks out of both sides of his mouth.

San Juan County Sheriff Shane Ferrari

(When talking to Townhall.)

Science is the king.

From the laboratory of rational thinking.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Anti-gun lobby points to the “well-regulated Militia” clause in the Second Amendment. They argue that the right to bear arms should be given only to organized groups, like the National Guard.

I’ve grown tired of all those constitutional scholars explaining the meaning of the Second Amendment and decided to go thoroughly scientific and with the help of Google Translate once and for all decipher what precisely James Madison had in mind when he proposed The Second Amendment.

First, I’ve used Google to Translate the Second Amendment from English to Polish (it works well with other languages too).

Then I’ve taken Polish translation and repeated the process in the opposite direction — from Polish back to English.

Finally! Thanks to my superior intellect and algorithms behind Google Translate, the meaning of the Second Amendment is clear and can not be questioned.

The last (very important) thought.

Mr. James Madison believed that:

We need a well-regulated militia for the security of the state, but at the same time, the people, have a right to own and carry firearms for personal protection.

For personal protection means — in case the state will decide to use the well-regulated militia to kick our personal ass.

NOTE: To the law-makers on Capitol and all Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court. Enjoy the fruits of my hard work, and…

You’re welcome!!!

President Trump Goes After Never Trumper Republicans

Finally, The Commander In Chief calls the opposition inside the Republican party for what it is — human scum.

No more Mr nice guy. Donald Trump is reaching into deeper layers of his vocabulary basket, and in my opinion, he’s doing the right thing. There’s no reason why the President should be respectful to people who, in some cases, greatly benefited from his support when they run for office, but after being elected, work very hard to have him destroyed.

The Republican opposition to Donald Trump has existed from the moment he made his run for office, official. Many lawmakers oppose Trump and would reach the highest levels of political excitement seeing his presidency failed.

The Never Trumpers don’t care how many regular citizens will get hurt if the President’s policies, due to opposition’s destructive actions, will fail. No matter how many people will lose their jobs, their pensions, their houses, as long as Donald Trump gets kicked out of the White House, his haters are going to be filled with joy.

The last thought.

In a nutshell.

They — the Republican establishment — hiding behind Democrats, deep state and mainstream media, work furiously hard to destroy President Of The United States just because he is doing a much better job then they were ever able or willing to do. Many politicians rush to oppose him, even when he wants to do what they were trying to do just a short while ago without success.

So, Washington hates Trump because Trump makes Washington look bad. I can understand this sentiment. On the other hand, it’s not his fault that many of those distinguished ladies and gentlemen on Capitol are a bunch of idiots, and him refusing to bring himself down to their level should not be held against him.
